EMMA COMBO

Environmental Mold and Mycotoxin Assessment

The EMMA test uses sensitive molecular detection technology to look for the presence of 15 molds and 16 mycotoxins that are the most toxicogenic. It determines their presence and relative abundance.

EMMA COMBO

Product Overview

This combo will continue to utilize our state-of-the-art environmental mycotoxin testing; however, we will be replacing the spore count with our new Fungal Count Dx test. This test will add two new organisms, Penicillium brevicompactum and Penicillium chrysogenum. Our test will now report fungal elements/ml instead of spores/ml. This, along with additional optimizations that our scientists have performed, will give our clients much greater sensitivity and will help identify mold issues that were previously unknown and undetectable. The Environmental Mold and Mycotoxin Assessment, or EMMA, is a highly sensitive test developed by RealTime Laboratories in 2019.

The scientists and doctors at RTL realized the importance of not only treating the body but treating the environment also for full recovery. RTL conducted intense research to find the 12 most toxigenic molds associated with the 16 mycotoxins that were already included in our test list.

Testing couldn’t be easier, only requiring a small cut out of an HVAC filter or a swab of dust from an area you can see or suspect mold to be present. The kit is packaged with two sterile swabs and a sterile piece of gauze to use for collection of a sample. We can merge up to three samples to run combined as a composite result, otherwise each sample will be treated and charged separately.

Fungal Count Dx

The Fungal Count Dx Analysis is done by using a sample of dust from a home or other building type.  The sample is analyzed using mold-specific quantitative polymerase chain reaction (MSQPCR).  We designed our test to include molds that produce mycotoxins that affect human health.  In conjunction with our environmental mycotoxins test you can see how much mold is in your home and what toxins those molds are releasing.

Frequently asked questions

  • Why choose the Fungal Count Dx?
The Fungal Count Dx can help you determine the amount of mold in your home. Every home has mold, but not every mold is present.  Some molds are more dangerous than others.  The test can help gauge the importance of seeking professional opinions or assisting in the home buying process.
  • What is the Fungal Count Dx?
This test is a DNA based method of reporting the identity and quantity of molds.  The sample is analyzed using mold-specific quantitative polymerase chain reaction (MSQPCR).
  • How many Species does this test look for?
This test looks for 15 different species of mold that produce toxins.
  • How is this test different than an air test?
Air tests are direct microscopic exams that count the number of spores floating in the air during a short period of time.  The Fungal Count Dx will tell you how many fungal elements accumulated in an area since the dust was last cleaned from that area.
